Measure how smooth your ride really feels, and turn it into a Comfort Score.
Kinetiq uses your iPhone's built-in motion sensors and GPS to measure the quality of a ride — in a car, bus, train, or any vehicle — and scores how smooth or rough it was. As you ride, it tracks vibration, smoothness, and sudden jerk events (hard braking, potholes, sharp turns) and maps your route, coloring it by how comfortable each stretch was.
Every ride gets a single Comfort Score from 0 to 100. Higher is smoother. The score blends three things measured continuously by your phone's accelerometer and gyroscope:
Your route map is colored along its length using the same scale, so you can see exactly where the ride got rough.
The Journal keeps a history of your rides — each with its score, date, distance, mode, route, and detected events. Tap any ride to see its segment-level map and event detail.
The Trends view turns your history into insights: how your ride comfort changes over time, comparisons between routes, and patterns across modes of transport.
Recording and scoring stay free. Premium unlocks memory and depth:
Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (Monthly or Annual, with a free trial on the Annual plan). Subscriptions renew at the listed price until cancelled, and can be managed or cancelled anytime in your App Store account settings. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use (EULA).
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Motion & Fitness | Reads the accelerometer and gyroscope to measure vibration, smoothness, and jerk events. |
| Location (While Using) | Maps your route and colors it by ride smoothness. Used only while you're recording. |
You can grant or revoke either permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or under Settings → Kinetiq.
Your motion and location data is processed on your device to generate your score and route. If you sign in, your ride summaries sync to your account so they're available across devices. Kinetiq does not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Kinetiq keeps the screen awake for you while recording, so just leave the app open for the ride. It records in the foreground rather than in the background.
