Color Safari is a color scavenger hunt for kids ages 8–12. Each day reveals one target color from a collection of 120 named colors. Hunt it down in the real world with the camera's live match-meter, capture it at 85%+, learn its fun fact, answer a mixing quiz to grow your Color IQ, then paint in the Studio using only the colors you've personally captured. No ads, no purchases, no accounts, no data collection — and it works fully offline.

FAQ

The camera screen is black / the app asks for camera permission. Why?

Color Safari needs the camera for one thing only: reading the live color in the center of the viewfinder so the match-meter works. It never takes photos and never saves or uploads camera frames. To enable it, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and switch on Color Safari (or Settings → Apps → Color Safari → Camera).

Tips for matching colors

Aim the center ring at the most evenly colored part of the object — avoid shiny highlights and shadows.
Daylight is your friend: colors read truer near a window or outside than under warm indoor bulbs.
Hold steady! The meter averages over a moment, so give it a second to settle.
Stuck below 85%? Try a darker or lighter patch of the same object, or step slightly closer.

Did I lose my colors or paintings?

Everything is saved on your device automatically — captured colors, paintings, streaks, and points. Note that deleting the app removes them, and they don't transfer to a new device (there are no accounts or cloud sync).

Is there anything to buy?

No. Color Safari is completely free with no ads and no in-app purchases.
